Foundation Course
The Agility Dog Club of Victoria (ADCV) offers a 6-week Agility Foundation Course which is designed to teach the basics of Agility.
We run 3 Foundation Classes each year (usually in February, April/May and August/September) and only allow a maximum of 10 dogs per intake. This is to ensure that both the dogs and their handlers get the most out of the 6-week course.
All handlers and dogs must attend an Assessment Day and meet the following requirements to be accepted into our Foundation class:
- Be at least 10 months old;
- Be fully vaccinated (C5 or equivalent) and registered with local council;
- Be able to pass our Pre-Foundation Assessment, which involves:
- Watching the dog’s reaction to other dogs and people.
- Seeing if the dog’s collar can be held by an instructor.
- Sit-Stay activity – dogs must be able to hold a sit and stay while the handler walks away (up to 5 metres)
- Testing recall – dogs must have a solid recall with distractions (
Handlers and dogs MUST attend and pass our assessment day before being offered a place in our Foundation Course. The course is designed to teach the fundamentals of agility, not obedience.
Assessment Days are run throughout the year, and following the submission of the Foundation Booking form, ADCV will be in contact to book into a session.
